Natural Capital

WHAT IS NATURAL CAPITAL

'Natural Capital’ is an economic metaphor for the limited stocks of physical and biological resources found on earth, and of the limited capacity of ecosystems to provide ecosystem services.

For our Natural Capital assessment, we economically value the positive and negative impacts associated with the physical and biological resources consumed as part of business activities.

In today's "volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous" (VUCA) world, the depletion of Natural Capital is one of the largest drivers of risk and uncertainty, underpinning the very viability of our existence as a society living on this planet.

WHAT DO WE MEASURE IN NATURAL CAPITAL?
